Okay we know you flatlander’s (people from MA; CT, NJ; NY) love coming to Vermont and see the leaves this time of year. So here are a couple of ideas for you if you plan to be in the greater Woodstock area Columbus weekend.
On your drive up I-91 stop in Norwich exit 13
Go to farmers market lots of baked good/ cheese etc. (before 1pm)

After go down RT 5 ½ mile
Go to the new King Arthur store / café

When finished down RT 5 to RT 4 head west to Tafteville covered bridge take right and follow signs to Sugarbush farms

Because you will be cold you will need homemade soup in Woodstock before you go to the Rotary club 40th annual penny sale at the high school starting at 7pm

My tour guide fees are a free beer at the beach bar July 4th 2014
