Girl snorkel trip-villa rec

Post by Fisheye »

We are 3 gals who love to snorkel and thinking of a spring getaway to st.john.
We would need 2 or 3 bedrooms, pref a/c I think, and of course a view!
Any good ideas for villa?

What part of the island? And how much do you want to spend?

Less than 3000, preferably , for a week.

Since it is you 3 girls...Have you thought about staying at a condo at Grande Bay in Cruz Bay? Then you could walk to all the restaurants/bars, etc in Cruz Bay...Just a thought. Also, you can check VRBO.com and plug in your dates and see all the different villas that are available on different parts of the island. Are you renting a car? Are you comfortable driving on the left, and on the switchbacks, etc? All things to consider as well as what part of the island you want to stay on.

If you are really trying to maximize snorkel time, try something in lower Chocolate Hole; you can dash down to the "beach " in a couple of minutes and there is excellent snorkeling about 2/3 out on the left side.

Is that $3000/week in season or off season (usually after April 15)?

On MY last girl's trip we stayed at Kia Ora. It's a little dated on the inside but the outdoor spaces are quite comfortable and, frankly, that's where we spent most of our time. It's only 5 minutes from Cruz Bay, reasonably priced and has fantastic views. It also has a huge private pool if that's an attraction. Only one bedroom has AC but it's up high enough that you get the breezes and don't really need AC. There are 3 large bedrooms - one is downstairs, so you can either spread out or all stay upstairs as the room with the AC has twin beds and a separate sitting area. The master has a garden bath.....actually a little odd since it's open to the sun and rain in the shower area (it IS screened so no bugs) but it's sorta fun (to me anyway) to have plants and geckos in your shower. Just depends on how independent you wish to be. Staying at one of the condos in town is convenient and luxurious but my group has been there multiple times so we feel safe and familiar with the area and LOVE having the ocean breezes, views and the night sounds ( love those tree frogs) that you get outside of town.
