Im bored with my traditional sides. Here are the parameters, large group , served buffet style, helpful if it could be prepared ahead. I've got the stuffing and sweet potatoe sides covered. I've done roasted veggies and can do them again but I'm looking for some inspiration. Thanks!

This is my long favorite green bean casserole. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/tasty-gree ... etail.aspx It tastes best if pre assembled and then heated on Thanksgiving day. A friend makes an awesome scalloped carrots dish. I'm going to get that recipe from her on Sunday and I'll share.

Mindie, thanks don't worry, between the storm, displacement from my office and trying to get our rental property ready for a displaced family I decided to go very simple this thanksgiving. have a great holiday!

Here's a recipe for Scalloped Carrots. It turns out to be an easy "cheater" recipe. My husband loved it and insisted we add it to our menu for Thanksgiving.
4 cups sliced peeled carrots
1 medium onion chopped
3 Tblsp butter
1 can cream of celery soup
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper1/2 cup grated cheddar
3 cups herb-flavored bread stuffing
1/3 cup melted butter
Cook carrots in boiling salter water and drain.
Meanwhile, cook onion in 3 Tblsp of butter until soft. Stir in soup, salt, pepper, cheese and carrots. Place in greased 2 qt casserole dish.
Toss bread stuffing mix with 1/3 cup melted butter and spoon over the carrots.
Bake 350 until thoroughly heated - about 20 minutes.
I've got mine done except for the topping, and waiting in the fridge.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Thank you all... I settled on a roasted brussell sprouts/cauliflower combo with lemon zest, I may add carrots for the color... I'll let you know how it works out. So the menu is Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes/butternut squash mash, mac & cheese, roasted sprouts and cauliflower, salad, corn bread.

and one extra guest... my husband's first wife!!! She is apparently feuding with everyone in her family and my stepdaughters asked if she could join us. What could I say but yes, no one should be alone on Thanksgiving. Bring on the wine :-)

Wishing you all a blessed Thanksgiving.
