Maine
Maine
I am in the early stages of planning a trip to Maine for next summer. I know we will be staying in Bar Harbor and Portland for most of the trip. My question for those of you who live in Maine and those of you who vacation in Maine: which month should we go? June, July or August? I have noticed at some places that June rates are a little better for lodging.
Appreciate any tips/recommendations, etc.
Thanks!

Re: Maine
June will be colder unless you go last week of the month. What are you looking to do?

Re: Maine
Hi Shoe - Thanks for the info from the old posts - very helpful.
The only thing we have planned is eating lobster as much as possible!
We are flying in to Portland and hope to stay in Portland, Bar Harbor and Camden.
That is as much as we have planned right now but I am already excited about the trip.
Thanks again.

Re: Maine
I don't think there is an exact start and end, but I believe May into June is black fly season. They may dwindle by later June and are usually gone by mid-July.
I'm sure Acadia would be less crowded in June and traffic along the turnpike and Rte 1 would worsen as you get further into summer.
Lobster is always plentiful. If you find yourself on Rte 1 in Wiscassett, stop at Reds Eats for a wicked good lobster rol.
