Here is a very cool thing - the original "website" by Tim Berners Lee, the guy who was a the major developer of the Internet we know today -

Ohmigosh! I love this! I wonder how much stuff is still "out there" and I often marvel that so much information can be "stored" somewhere for anyone to access! It certainly did put Encyclopedia Brittanica and World Book out of business! Thanks for this Anthony, I think it's fascinating!

Anthony, that's so cool!

I love the Wayback machine too -- you can view snapshots of lots of websites from, well, way back. http://archive.org/index.php (Wayback search bar at the top middle -- once you enter the site, go back a decade or more in the timeline at the top of the page (many sites go all the way back to 1996) and click on any blue-circled date.

Yahoo.com is a great one that really illustrates how the look of the web has evolved.
Yahoo in 1996: http://web.archive.org/web/199610172359 ... yahoo.com/
I forgot that Yahoo used to have a "random" link that would send you to a random site on the internet, back when the internet was all shiny and new and the whole idea was so exciting. Adorable! :)

Yes I know the Wayback machine - been using that for years! Very cool.

The original "web" site - they didn't "find it" somewhere, but actually re-created it for the anniversary. Not sure what the date was, but if you Google Tim Berners Lee and www etc. you will find tons of info about it -
