Well, for a while, at least.
New Traffic Light
New Traffic Light
On the North Shore Road, a bit east of the Oppenheimer Beach gate, workers have been using gabion baskets to shore up the steep ocean-facing side of the road. I think that they are either extending an existing stone wall, or rebuilding one that eroded and collapsed. The work site was unoccupied most of the times we encountered it. The automated traffic light would be green at one end and red at the other, alternating every few minutes to render the single remaining lane safely passable. For at least one day, though, the traffic light was set to a very confusing flashing red at each end; "Stop, and proceed with caution", being the implied directive. Since you couldn't see all the way to the end of the work zone, that was a little nerve-wracking, but we made it through both ways without incident.

All the best,

Kevin
