This is a cool thread.
I have to prefix this as its not just St John for me, I know that's sorta blasphemy, but its the whole region the US and British Islands.

I am a better person in the islands. I slow down and enjoy the people around me a whole lot more than at home. I know part of that is the vacation thing because I don't have to deal with my company and clients but its a whole lot more than that.

I couldn't sit on the back of a boat, or a chair on balcony or towel on a beach at home without going stir crazy and lookin for something to do. In the islands its no problem mon.

It's just plain and simply a "happy place".

And to quote the great philosopher Jimmy Buffet "I gotta go were the pace of life's slow, I gotta go were its warm"

I agree with everything already mentioned (except the posts on not wearing makeup).

One I did not see....Sitting outside at night and looking at all the stars you never see at home.

I have to agree with everything everyone said, except Gromit, that warm humid air smacks me in the face about 11 months out of year. Makes for many bad hair days. I guess that's why I like ac.

Yeah, but STT and STJ humid air is BETTER!!! If it's like that here in the DC area it's like a big dog breathing on you. But there, I just don't care ;-)

I thought my hair looked great when it air dried in the tropical air. Usually I kept in a pony tail, but it got so wavy down there.

Of course, you've all seen pictures, and may beg to differ.

What I miss about STJ is that is the only place where I don't miss what I've got back home.

Wow - such great replies already!!

I agree with everyone - the thing I miss MOST of all is utter relaxation and lazy days -

More than even that - - I love seeing my husband in a state of relaxation- because he never-ever relaxes in his real life!

The sheer beauty, peace and tranquility that St John is all about.

the locals

the pace

the beauty of it and the quietness

driving on the left side of the road and drinking a beer or a limon coconut...

the smells of the flowers and the plants

the animals in the road that you have to stop for

the friendlyness of the people around you no matter what time of day

Quiet Mon
The Beach Bar
Skinny's

Having people know me by name and just smile and say hello.

Just sitting at Maho and chillin or........

out on a boat and just going wherever......destination unknown

a hug from Ivan........

The warm breezes, the feeling of complete contentment, the beautiful beaches and incredible views, people watching from the Quiet Mon, the laid back feel of the island, happy hour, the tropical flowers, and usually something just happens where I find myself laughing uncontrollably...everyting! Ali~

What do you miss?

Snorkelqueen stole my thunder: Its the nekkidness. And not for the reasons some pervs may think. (Although the opportunities for spontaneous whahini does increase. And what's wrong with that??) Its like there are no secrets; no aires. You are who you are. And if it brings you closer, what can be bad about that?
Total relaxation; alone with your thoughts; a true paradise.
