Here is a totally random comment.
But if anyone lives near NYC, has a modest amount of AAdvantage miles, and the ability to travel this Spring, you can take a nonstop flight to Tahiti for about the same number of miles as it takes to get to Des Moines. I've never been to South Pacific and would love to some day, but I will have spent all my vacation time and money on St. John (not bad either).
