Anyone else have the winter blues?
Anyone else have the winter blues?
I hate cold weather, thus, I should probably not live in Michigan. This has been a hard winter as it has been for many others. I find the months of Jan-Feb to be very "depressing". At least we are getting more daylight now. I find that I don't get out as much and long for some fresh air in the house. At least I have the next trip to STJ to look forward to. Only 80 more days. I seriously need some warm weather!!
Going "home" again October 26th!

We've all moved beyond the "winter blues" here. At this point it's just not funny anymore. One more ice storm, blizzard or extreme sub-zero weather day and I think we're all going to lose it. It's really special that we've broken every dang record known to man but, like I said, it's not funny anymore.
Wouldn't you like to open a window? How 'bout take a walk outside? Or even see the ground? It has been covered with snow for three months. We don't even have pavement anymore. You need an ATV to drive the streets they are so rugged with snow/ice lumps. Get a big snow storm, then get bitter cold. Salt won't work, too cold. Plows can't move the ice/snow.
Someone wake me when it's Spring.

With the days getting longer, I'm doing better. Cold and snow don't bother me, but darkness at 5 PM does. The most depressing part of the year for me is from when Daylight Saving Time ends until we take our winter tropical trip. Denver actually has milder winters than what many people think and quite a bit of sunshine.
Marcia, I guess that's what George Thorogood meant by the "Madison Blues". Chin up, spring is almost here!

I am definitely grumpy and looking for warmer weather.
The only positive thing I can say is that it is starting to get light earlier. It is nice not to be both waking up and leaving work in the pitch black.
I guess I can't complain too much though...our weather here has been nothing compared to you guys in Wisconsin. They are calling for about 6" of snow here tomorrow, but if the general track record holds it will only be an inch or so (but there will still be massive traffic jams ).

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Along the lines of what nothintolose said, our winters are never really that bad (except for El Nino a few years back). I could so NOT live in the snow. I told waterguy that I lived in the UP of Michigan for a year and that was enough for me! I didn't even wear a coat or jacket to work today and I don't even own a pair of boots (weather boots, that is)! Last weekend it was so beautiful that we opened all the doors and windows and let the fresh air blow through. Of course, we pay for the privelege... it's not cheap living here, but oh so worth it! Yay California!

I love the tropics, but I don't think I could live full time somewhere without seasons.

Gorgeous pictures Teddy!! Gorgeous place!
I don't miss the seasons because I've never had them, really. Well, I did when I lived in Michigan and Washington, but those were only each for one year at a time. I was born and raised in California and I notice the seasonal changes, but people from other places don't see much of a difference.
I could live someplace much hotter, Arizona, New Mexico, St. John? But definitely NOT colder!
