PLEASE Help Me With My Playlist...
Ok everyone, its 27 days until wheels up for me. My iPod playlists are in DESPERATE need of an update. I am guilty of listening to the same tunes for ages without it bothering me. But since there will be others on this trip, I need to branch out...
For the first half of vacation, my iPod speakers will be by the pool entertaining me and my group of old friends. A 30-something crowd of singles with drinks in their hands... Second half of the trip is for my personal reflection and relaxation on the beautiful beaches of St John.
Your Challenge: what one (or two) songs would you not go to STJ without on your Playlist ?
The Condition: you cannot submit a KC or Buffett tune.
HELP ME!!!

Not necessarily "islandy", but these two songs always put me in a happy place - both by Luis Armstrong:
1. Cabaret
2. What a Wonderful World - this was my Gram's favorite song...She loved the beaches of The Cape...But I listen to this on STJ and think how much she would've loved Maho Bay had she ever made it there.

I've got a good one. It was kind of an obscure instrumental title track from by The Band's album called "Islands" It is a very cheerful tune that puts a spring in your step.
You can hear it here:
http://www.rhapsody.com/the-band/islands
Just click on the 6th song.

When you find yourself in a hole.... quit digging.

oh wow, i was just going to suggest FOuntains of Wayne.
guster is great too.
these aren;t island specific...just suggestions
I can't be unhappy listening to 'my old school' or 'bohdisattva' by steeley dan
or 'glad' by traffic
Oye como va by santana (and anything else carlos puts his hand to!)
and it stoned me and into the mystic (van morrison)
hasten down the wind (zevon's version)
movie star (cracker-off of Kerosene Hat)
and she was (talking heads-actually pretty much their whole catalogue!)
the soundtrack fromt eh harder they come
three little birds and no woman no cry and is this love (bob marley)
dumb luck (the brilliant mistakes)
gonna make you sweat and things that make you go hmmm (cand c music factory)
and on and on and on--
oops just realized you said one or two...sorry about that......
