Reading into Anthony's post I think what he is saying is to go ahead and post about seeing the first lady, call each other names like d-bag or fluffy, and his hands are clean because he is Mia.

So, d-bags, ho-bags, drunks, and fluffs, I haven't seen a first lady in my life.

Disclaimer: the posts made in Anthony's absence are not his fault so grow a sac.

The Obama video has been deleted.

Please take careful note of the following:

The Obama video has been deleted. Sorry it took a couple of hours, but The Mgmt. is not able to monitor VIOL full time. Besides, you're the one who put it up.

If you don't like the way the Board is run, maybe you ought to just move on to some other location. Anthony is not under any compulsion to run this Board in accordance with the whims of any particular member or group of members. He does have to run it in such a manner as to attract the most lucrative sponsors in order to insure the Board survives.

Actually Bayer...It is in Anthony's best interest to attract the most lucrative membership that he can, not the most lucrative sponsors. Poor folks don't buy totes, underwater cameras, license plate covers that read "I'd rather be on St. John", and IPad's. Mercedes-Benz need not advertise here, however, if people who can purchase a MB read the forum, then business for Anthony will be good. It is difficult to explain economics and business to liberals.

And you're right, Anthony is not under any such "compulsion". However, he should be consistent. If I am not allowed to make comments about how his being stuck in communist Shanghai is the reason he cannot watch over his "children" on the forum (that irony is RICH), then I don't think people ought be allowed to advertise their demonstrations/walk-out's/sit in's/beach-hand-holding against "BIG OIL" activities. As a capitalist, those types of things offend me. They should be deleted immediately as my Soup Nazi video was deleted (still not sure who that offended).

Consistency. Is that too much to ask?

While the irony of the above does make me chuckle, I think it's more an issue of presentation.

People can disagree. That's fine. When it becomes "un-fine" to a business owner trying to attract advertisers (and revenue) is when a debate (as it is) degrades into name calling

A hotel chain will be less inclined to want to advertise in a place where a bunch of posts are either of the theme of "I'm right, you're wrong and here's why you suck" or "That's it...I'm outta here". So, the management of a forum has the right to dump out comments that would make them less likely to make money.

The boys from OSJ went through this time time ago with comments about Jeff Whatshisname and his island of the misfit cow statue.

If someone wants to say that they're driving to the beach to protest against oil, they can. It gets bad when the counter-argument comes across as mean-spirited and of a tone that turns people off..because the advertisers will see that.

I wish we could be a lot more civil here and have conversations on the issues. It may not be for everyone, but I'm tired of talking to the 4 people I know in real life. They've all seen the light and agree with me ;-). A little civilized debate would be fun.

In closing (anyone who kows me knows what's coming)

I have no point

Pip - you generally bring humor and sarcasm to the debate. What the heck happened? I like the funny/sarcastic Pip better than the serious Pip. Just kidding!

You make valid points, but you tell me...If I started a thread saying that I was going to attend an anti-Obama rally this weekend, do you not think that thread would be deleted? Or, if I started a thread expressing my views on how a BP boycott is much more detrimental to the world economy than helpful...Would that be deleted?

The fluffies run this asylum now. I liked it better, and I'll bet the sponsors did too, when we had 18 page discussions (yes, often heated) on topics that affect us all. And the argument about this not being a political forum is silly. Like as has been said a millions times...if you don't like, don't read. It takes you two extra clicks of the mouse to get from a discussion on Beach Bar Gatherings to a discussion on why Obama is a communist. That is a conscious choice, and as we know, life is about choices.

I'm gonna cut right to the bone and not BS around.

If you started that thread...it would be deleted. You, my friend (who roots for a crappy baseball team), have a reputation. Could I start one? Possibly.

Now...is some of it the way people respond to you? Yes...in fact that's a lot of it. Your rep proceeds you and some people will respond to anything you say by A: Wailing and flogging themselves b: calling "El Jefe"

Be nice, play nice, and even a heathen Red Sox fan like you can be resurrected as a functioning member of society. It's not likely, but it could happen.

I mean...Red Sox?

Some people never learn.
