Using Jimm's reference, Reef Bay Cottage is the first villa NNW of Surfside

OK, maybe closer to N but I believe it shares the pool with the owners villa just up the hill, WNW of Reef Bay Cottage

"first villa NNW of Surfside" - that is what I thought - the small one with the grayish roof, right? I think this Google image is before they put their own small pool in - that is why I wasn't sure. But the roof line looks like the only one possible.
    Thanks!

    Hi Anthony,

This is my snapshot of the area.
It includes some other villas you may not have yet.
Where there's a number listed after the name, it's the lot parcel number.
I use the real estate listings to help pinpoint as many villas as possible, so some private homes are included.
If the name of the villa has changed, the previous name is in parentheses after the current name.
I've been doing this for a few years (a little obsessively  but totally normal by Forum standards)
and have several hundred villas marked but I'm totally unfamiliar with how to share this.
I've marked and saved them on Google Earth on my laptop.
If there are any specific areas you could use detail on, I can send a snapshot.
Even better, if you can tell me how to send you my database, I'm happy to share it.
    Hope this helps. 8)

How do you even get to all these cottages/villas? From the Cruz Bay area or the Coral Bay area??

From Cruz Bay starting out along South Shore Road. They are not accessible from Coral Bay. From Coral Bay you'd take Centerline to Gifft Hill then east out to Reef Bay.

We stayed at the next bay west of there in upper Fish Bay one trip and the drive got old. It was stunningly beautiful but you're not close to anything out there...not the beaches, Cruz Bay, or Coral Bay. It wasn't a big deal if we only did the round trip once per day, but if we wanted to get cleaned up before dinner out after having been at the beach, it was a lot of driving for one day.

To each his/her own but "...not close to anything" is why we like it. The drive is ~ 15 minutes to Cruz which is nothing in Texas but admittedly not everyones cup of tea on STJ. Some time planning is involved when you want a 'night in town' after the beaches but unless you have an early reservation everything is still island time. We really like the evenings in the villa away from everything, watching the cruise ships heading south and smiling at them knowing we get to stay on STJ. :D

When we stayed in upper Fish Bay it was 20 minutes to Cruz Bay and even more to the North Shore beaches. If we did two round trips, that meant we could spend nearly 2 hours a day driving. Back then I had a really long commute to work and the last thing I wanted was to spend a lot of time in the car. It was the best view we've ever had but when we picked the villa we didn't realize how much time we'd be spending in the Jeep.

Sorry Teresa, maybe it it does take longer than 15 minutes but perhaps we get lost viewing the scenery? :D
There are a few interesting switchbacks along that road I must admit

Well, being in upper Fish Bay definitely added a few minutes, especially if you got stuck behind a water truck

Ah yes...or the dreaded dump truck (in front of or coming at you). I remember our favorite was a backhoe heading to Fish Bay and we were staying at Soft Winds (the end of Shoreline & Marina). We were praying the whole time they weren't going up Cocoloba Point.

The drive time from Starfish to the homes posted here is no more than 15 minutes driving at a leisurely pace and slowing to see the sights UNLESS you happen to be headed into town at the time that the Westin changes shifts. We didn't mind the drive at all.
