Spring Break Trip Report - Part Three
Day Four (Friday) –
We were up early to take Peter (the dog) for a hike on the Lind Point Trail. We met at the ACC and walked to the National Park Service Office by super ACC employee Kimber and Happy (the dog). We met Park Ranger, Nia who escorted Alex, Peter and I on the hike. She pointed out all sorts of things I would never have noticed, identified plants and took us up to the overlook that I didn’t even know existed. Peter did incredibly well on the hike and he will make a wonderful addition to any family – we could tell by the way he tried to lick our faces that he was grateful!

After our hike, we said goodbye to Peter and went to Jake’s for a late breakfast which was delicious!
We needed a beach at this point and since there was a high surf advisory in place, we knew kayaking would not be a good idea. So, we packed up and took a taxi to Cinnamon Bay for the rest of the afternoon.

Alex had a great time playing in the waves and digging in the sand and we enjoyed another beautiful day.
After a while at the pool and hot tub – which became our afternoon ritual, we planned to stay in for dinner and just had some small snacks and such. I could hear some music coming from town and recognized it immediately as Inner Visions. I checked the High Tide website and sure enough, they were playing live. Although we were in our pajamas, I convinced my son to join me for a few songs - I did have to bribe him with some VI Brewer’s Root beer. So we changed quickly and enjoyed the band and the crowd for a while before calling it a day.
If Inner Visions is playing on island at any time during your stay make sure you get out to see them - it's worth it!
Day Five (Friday)
Another active day on the schedule as we decided to kayak over to the Westin. I was a little more nervous about this trip since the current and waves are a little stronger. We also had to get past the car ferry channel without encountering any other boats. On each of our trips we brought along our snorkel life vests in case we felt any need for them.
Cruz Bay Beach

We stopped along the way at the Gallow’s Point raft so that Alex could jump in a few times.

We then paddled hard past Frank Bay, past the car ferry channel and along the coastline. The waves and current were against us on the way to the Westin but our little boats held up fine the whole way. We made it to the Westin beach and enjoyed our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Alex played for a bit on the water trampolines and we took a look around the pool and grounds. I must say that I did not enjoy this beach at all – lots of rocks in the water and also quite a bit of weeds. Unlike the north shore beaches, I was unable to look down and see anything which made me feel like I was in a lake back home. We did see many visitors enjoying their stay though, so everyone is different.

We weren’t sure if we should pack up and taxi back or paddle our way back. We decided to kayak back since we knew the current and wind would be at our back and the trip ended up being much easier and much more relaxed.
After a long day, we chose to go to dinner at Rhumblines which is my favorite restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation so had to wait a while, but it was well worth it! I don’t have photos, but Alex had their salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and I enjoyed the Pu Pu platter with Szechuan noodles. Delicious!
We watched a bit of the island football championships before dinner
