Haulover north and south are now part of the Park!

Post by Coconuts »

A lot of us may have assumed that this was already the case, but the land was actually privately owned, and could have been developed. The owner, Dave Prebo, thoughtfully decided to sell his 3.5 acre property to the St. John Land Conservancy, who just transferred the parcel to the VI National Park. The process began in 2011, and has been brokered by Lauren Mercadante of the St. John Land Conservancy. We are all grateful to Mr. Prebo, and to the generous donors who funded this purchase, working in the spirit of Laurance Rockefeller and Frank Stick. Read about it here:

This is excellent news. I only wish we had won the Powerball, then we could help make a difference as well.

Wow, that is good news! I went to haulover north for the first time in January and it is a beautiful spot, but there is a lot of land for sale on the east end after you leave the park. Thanks for sharing that info Kevin!
