Beach Party! They're back!

Post by stjohnjulie »

They started doing the beach parties out at the East End, Hansen Bay Campgrounds again!!! Woo hoo!!! They had one a couple of weeks ago for Father's Day. It was a ton of fun, as always. They said they are going to try and do them every other Sunday. Next one will be this Sunday July 3rd. Good food, good drink, good music, and good people. I highly recommend checking them out if you are on island. I will try and keep you posted on future parties as well. Not sure who is going to be playing music this Sunday, but last time Innver Visions was rockin the beach. Love those guys :)

What time are we getting started? Have friends here from Alaska and want to show them a good time! Inner Visions is playing at the Beach Bar that day.

Thanks, Julie!

Thanks to Julie we made it to one of Owen's parties on Mother's Day 2010. Inner Visions played that day, too. They cooked up whelks, chicken, lobster, along with salads. They charged a modest price for food to help cover costs. They also sell beer and other libations with rum, etc. Cash only, of course, so keep that in mind. One of my favorite days on STJ. The beach is , as per the STJ norm, fantastic, too. Very family friendly, also.
If you're down there when one is happening, go, you'll be glad that you did!

They are going to start them up earlier, 10:30, 11am, and have them wrap up around 7pm (I think). Two of the guys that were always involved, Gold who handles the bar and other things and who is just a generally all around good guy :) and Benji, who mans the food part of things...and there is a LOT of amazing food, and he is an awesome guy too :) I love love his cooking. And he has everything really really fresh. The fish and lobster are fresh out of the ocean, and the mutton is butchered fresh as well. Owen is pretty busy with Cases by the Sea these days. He isn't involved in the planning of the parties any more as I understand, but he attends!!

Not sure if they are going to have a band or a DJ. They mix it up a bit.

JT! Thanks for sharing the pictures. I have a bunch of them...I will try and dig them up and post a few. It really is an awesome way to spend the day. Good people, good fun.

Coden, Karen and Kay at Windspree in Coral Bay usually know about them, and even if you're not renting from them you could ask them, they don't bite. Their office is across the road from Skinny's.

I will try and post when I know they have one planned. I was going to talk with Gold on Father's Day more about the best way to let people know when one will happen...but... we just didn't seem to find the time. We will work on that. I'm going to be off island for a bit, but will still try to keep in the loop so I can keep all of you in the loop.

It's pretty yuckie hear right now. We have a tropical wave messing with us right now. Hopefully it will clear up by tomorrow. My oldest son loves to go out there and mess around on the water toys. We bring his kayak too and all the kids play on it. My youngest son (still a baby 6 months old now!) loved it too. He would have frog kicked in the ocean all day long if I could hold him :) And my husband, well, he just loves all of it...the food, the water, the music, and most of all, the socializing :D

Thnx Julie - I am taking my laptop with me so I'll be able to keep up with what is happening on the island and will look forward to your postings of when/where the party is going to be. :)

We are seriously thinking about going tomorrow. How will we find you?

After our afternoon dive, we'll be at the BB.

I usually set up camp near the water. I don't move around so much...just kind of sit there and watch everyone :) I will be with my 10 year old son, 6 month old son, and husband (who has long dreadlocks). Although, it will probably be me and the little one just sitting there. My older son is in the water 99% of the time, and my husband is usually scooting around chatting with everyone or helping someone out. BUT, this is only if I get all of my housework done this morning. Usually I will just skip it! But I'm getting ready to go on vacation so I have to do it :( So, hopefully, I will see you there!

Stjohnjulie - I am the same way as you, I make sure the house is spic & span before we leave on vacation. But, let me tell you, now that I am older than dirt...I realize that the housework can wait. Go play with your family at the beach party.
